How exciting!

The maiden voyage is really a big moment in the life of a model tank. :D

May I suggest you get your sound module replaced or updated? The one thing everyone is impressed by on my tiger is the sound and your model with its absolutely unequaled detail deserves the best sound available if you ask me. :D

I am very much looking forward to seeing your tiger touching down (the Eagle has landed...). That sure is a mile post - not just for the model, but for the entire hobby! :D

I wish we lived closer!

Cheers,
/Chris

Hi guys and thanks

Chris, after watching your video, you are 100% correct. A sound upgrade from Thomas is in order. WOW yours sound good. Wish we lived closer too.

Hi Peppe, not a big journey yet as I was planning to do it tomorrow but couldn't wait. I had to atleast drive it out of the shop. Will tighten tracks as needed and stretch its legs some more tomorrow.

Tiger leaves the workshop on its own tracks for the first time. :D

Time to primer the turret.

Hi everyone

Not to beat a dead horse but here's one taken today after the track tension was adjusted. Although it was a short and gentle run, I am quite pleased with the tracks and how they are functioning with the sprocket teeth. I have not chamfered the teeth yet but wanted to see how it was as is. Runs smoother then the Panther did at this stage and as I said, very happy with it.

Primed the turret yesterday and gave the interior a quick coat of elfenbein so now I can get moving on details and adding parts. Please ignore the vision port on the turret. They are loose and I didn't notice it was turned until I uploaded the video. aAlso wanted a side by side comparison with the Panzer IV.

Really liking this tank.

Happy tanking

Hi Peter and Björn

Thanks for the comments. Quite happy it is rolling. Some adjustment needed to the ride height at the front but overall, very pleased with how smooth it is running right off the bat.

Yes Björn, Only a tiny dirt patch between my driveway and the neighbors(as we haven't decided what to plant there) but its good for churning dirt through the tracks and wheels. Maybe I should turn it into a small test track. :D

Hope to have more on the turret soon.

Thanks again
Tim

Hi everyone

A few things done on the Tiger recently after not being able to work on any of my models for a while. First, a huge thank you to Thomas Benedini for getting me set up with the latest sound file for the Tiger 1. Sounds great! Second, I stated the welds on the turret front plate and put the first coat of yellow on the turret. Zimmeit experimentation and application will follow very soon. As many of the late production Tiger's turret had a different pattern then the hull, I'll use a few methods and test them before it's applied to the actual turret.

Third, and most important, My friend Bob Morey stopped in for a visit yesterday and it was GREAT! We don't have the opportunity to talk face to face about our shared hobby and excitement over the tanks and cool parts so this was a real treat for me. Bob brought down his late Tiger links and other cool parts he's been busy making and they looked VERY nice(as always). We also had some time to fire up the Tiger 1 and he drove it on my mini-test track. I couldn't let him have all the fun so I started up the Panzer IV and it was nice to see them driving around together. :D Bob has a "can do" spirit and was quick to get my small mill set up with the Tiger's turret roof to begin some machining I have been dreading. Now it's well under way and I hope to have it completed soon, bringing the Tiger closer to completion. Thanks Bob! It was good to see you again.

This ones for Chris! :D

Here's a short video demonstrating the newly installed sound card from Thomas. Recording of the Bovington Tiger with sputtering cylinders and all. :D

Attaboy! :D

That'll scare the neighbors off to give you the room you need to maneuver tanks!

I'm impressed by the attacking ant that's taking on your tiger!

Hi Chris

I wish I would have spotted that bug assaulting the Tiger. Would have made quick work of him with the right track!

Some very first tests of turret zimmerit. Not final at all. Once I have one I like, I'll post a step by step of what I used to achieve the look. I scaled the pattern using war-time photos and height dimension of the model.

I have another test patch that when dry, I will try block-sanding it a bit.

More soon

Hi Bjorn

I agree. Much better. Another video with some more running of both the Tiger and Panzer IV.

Hi everyone

While working on the turret roof, I thought it as good a time as any to start on the cupola.

Welds are added to the armor covers.
