Next round of painting begins on lower hull. Using a mix of dunkelgelb and white, the base coat is dusted over in a random pattern and vertical streaking is added to side panels. This gives the hull a less uniform coloring prior to the next steps of paint and weathering.
I think this is my personal favorite point in the builds. Nice ultra flat, faded dunkelgelb coloring. : ) oooo yea!
Work has been very busy for the last month so unfortunately not much hobby time. Hopefully I'll be able to get more done on teh Panzer IV's turret. One of the parts I planned on making along with some others is the interior gun detailing. One of my favorite things about the Panzer IV is being able to see clear through the turret when the side hatches are opened. It wouldnt be right to have an empty turret.
As always, this is just the basic, first part and by no means complete. More detail still needs to be added, especially to the left side. This is designed to bolt straight onto the kits inner mantle piece and insert through the same opening.(fingers crossed).
Om du inte har tid att göra det ordentligt första gången vad får dig att tro att du har tid att göra det två gånger ?

More turret detail parts are under way. Here's the turret side door frames/ drip guards that are bolted to the interior of the turret using the doors hinge bolts.
I wanted to do this part because one, it's easy enough and two, the door openings are a big area of interest on this model.
Another finalized part with dimensions checked and details added. I can't add any of the gunner's sight, traverse and elevation handles until I have this part to test fit. Not sure how much more, other then the gunner's vision port, I'll add to the interior. This part's been holding me up though so it will be nice to have it ready to mount and get the gun back on.
Here is the first go at the Gunner's Vision Port for the Panzer IV's turret. This will be a semi-functional piece and like the Driver's Vision Port, has a main insert piece that will be blended into the front face of the turret after the hole is cut. This will give the nice stepped detailing of the port opening from the outside
The interior has a separate cover for the glass block so I can easily insert a piece of plex from the inside and capture it(assuming I can get my hands in there). The arms should have enough friction to keep the armor cover in the open position.
OK! That's it for drawings. Parts soon and then Turret should come together.
Vision block is test fitted into Drivers Vision port and MG mount plus MG was fitted(pictures on this later)
Turret side door weather guards are pained elfenbein and test fitted. The door opening will be cleaned up and painted before these are permanently installed.
more coming soon
Tim
