RSO

Post by RC_BobM »

I started this project in 2018. Erik's now famous Youtube RSO build was great motivation to get mine finished. Lots of hours on CAD. The hull is printed PLA+ with carbon rods reinforcement. The CAB is PLA+ and resin printed. Tracks are PLA, although I'm making a metal track version. Wheels and Sprockets are printed Nylon. Chain rings, axles and other parts are machined aluminum or brass.

WOW!
Thanks for all the pictures and CAD images. It helps to appreciate the hours that went into this. Just totally awesome!
I know you have used Shapeway's services for parts in the past. Were the metal tracks made that way?
Either way:

A Master piece.

If you are selling the files I will happy to buy them from you.
I would love to have an RSO in the collection.

Robert

Ps. Is it a Blitz wheel on the back of the RSO ?

Chris Alfors: no the metal tracks were not made by 3D printing - not exactly anyway. Michal Mattata in Romania (Armortek fortum) made them for me in 2020 using my CAD and 3D printed masters. I did use shapeways for some of the parts - the wheels are printed nylon for example. I like Shapeways for investment cast brass parts, but they have gotten very expensive.

Robert - yes Blitz tire made by fellow builder in Oz (Australia), rubber tire steel pressed rim just like real one.

Thanks for all comments!
Bob
