Hi Friends

Some more disassembly of the Opel Blitz. The cab is simply removed by unscrewing two fasteners under the bumper, lifting up and forward.

Also received a few parts to start helping me with component layout for the drive train. Working on getting the right motor and the drive shaft to the rear axle will be built form scratch. The one shown is off the shelf and might work for the motor's input shaft to the transfer case.

Hi Chris

I am going to set it up so it can be four wheel drive like the real thing. I may not do this right away but want to have it ready.

photo of the real thing where you can see the drive shafts leading to both axles from the transfer case.

Hope that helps.
take care

That's really cool and will definitely be an advantage when running! :D I did not know that the real thing was 4WD.

You are downright amazing - making very good progress on three models simultaneously, with ingenious solutions on all of them!

Cheers,
/Chris

Hi everyone

More work on the Opel Blitz's biggest hurdle before having it move under it's own power, the rear axle housing. I drew all the components so I could get the assembly with all parts fitting. hopefully no surprises when I have the rear and front halves made.

Some minor things and then this and the 3T jack 3D parts will be made.

happy tanking

Hi Bjorn.....you will be glad to know that with the parts below, your splash guard was also included.

Here is one of the axle assemblies. Everything seems to fit and function well. yeah! Some serious layers of primer and adding the fasteners and it will be ready to bolt onto the vehicle.

Here is the 3T jack I needed, and made for the Opel. Also functions well and is the correct jack for these trucks.

looks very nice...! Looks like the axle housing is 3D printed (with very high quality). Is it so...?

Hi Falcon

That is correct. They are SLA( stereolythography) parts, not printed. Two different processes to produce 3D parts.

More progress on the drive train assembly. Fabricated the two internal axles and the main drive shaft and was able to fit everything. I'm keeping all the home-made parts in primer red so the conversion parts needed is fairly clear. They'll get painted and weathered with the rest of the truck at a later date.

Hi guys

Thanks for the nice comments.

Decided to do something small. I haven't had the energy to fabricate the handle yet but it will be added. Unlike the larger jacks, these had a rather simple crank and handle.

The brackets and side step detailing will be done later on.
