Thanks Bjorn

Finally found some time to do something on the Tiger. Up on the stand and onto the painting side of the shop. Still need to finish the welds on the turret roof deck and finish the engine hatch before I start painting. I have to admit that I am already looking forward to the next tracked vehicle and want to get this Tiger done so I can start something new.

Tiger's track links get their first layer of weathering.

HI everyone

Another Normandy Panzer commander I'm working on. Trying to get the right uniform and head sculpt together before I commit to weathering one of these guys. Hope to have one of them completed soon.

He didn't button up fast enough during an engagement with Canadians around Caen. I titled this one Entschlossenheit erneuert

Image

Here's another one looking confident still in early June 1944.
Image

Also, finished the rear engine hatch on the Tiger. Didn't go overboard making this piece accurate and it was good to get it done and painted. Now it's just the turret roof welds.
Image

Also had to see the collection of Panzer IV, V and VI all together.

Hi friends

I can hardly believe it! Actually found time finally to sort out the Tiger's turret roof and add the first welds. Work has been crazy since January. The spare link carrier welds and cupola weld will be next. Then detailing the mantle.

Hi Peppe

It's getting closer to camo and weathering!...finally.

For welds, I use a product called Epoxy-Sculpt. Basically the same thing as milliput. 2-part kneaded together and it cures as hard as rock.

http://www.avesstudio.com/index.php?pag ... 1&Itemid=4

It is workable like clay until it starts setting up(which isn't very quickly so you have plenty of time to work with it.

kind regards
Tim

Thanks Peppe

Here is the first step in final paint. With a mix of darkened base color, every corner and detail is given a wash. Don't worry about being neat, it will get toned down before it's through. Every time I do this, I start too light and need to come back with another wash in areas. The Tiger is no different as I'm just too timid. The same thing will be done to the hull sides and wheels(hopefully tonight).

The idea is to give edge definition to all the details to really bring them out.

Hi Bjorn

Thanks for your encouragement. The feeling is mutual.

Last night I started, and almost finished the road wheels, lower hull and pannier on the right side. Some minor scratches and bolt touch-up to add and maybe some grease. Once everything is finished, it will receive a dusting of dark earth.

Hi everyone

Camo added to the rest of the Tiger. Some weathering done but much, much more to go. Some minor part to add still but I'll paint and weather them before installing. All the tools and cables have not been finished yet.

Very convincing! The only giveaway that this is a model, is the background...
