Opel Maultier - Minialand57

Post by RC_BobM »

Hello Minipansar! This is Opel truck/halftack from Minialand available on Cults3D.

I change a few things I did not like. The front tires for one thing, These are printed in TPU. The wheel do not fit bearing very well so redesign that too. I didnt like the tracks, no tread - so yep redesign that too. New links are more time consuming to print, but work much better. I also made front axle aluminum. I'm not a fan of printed axles. :silent: I find the doors very hard to print (lots of warping) The battery is located under hatch in middle of load bed (another modification to original). All parts printed in Esun PLA+, but I'm starting to use more PETG. Load bed planks are Oak or Cherry (darker color).

Overall very nice model, runs pretty good with recommended motor but not very fast. I use ESS Dual sense module for sound.

till next time. - Bob

Hello
Nice build, nice updates you made to this one.
I'm building this too, experiencing the same problem as you.
Could you please share your files on your redesign tracks? please.

Hello Robert
I make two version of track link. One has integrated cleats, the other has printed separate cleats and bonded on. Both links are much more difficult to print than original link. I'm testing one track side as resin printed (ABS) to see how they hold up.

Are you sure you want them? They take a long time to print.

But both have good traction once completed.

Hi Robert
The one piece link is best and print ok if you tilt it about 45 degree. Do you have email? I can't attach STL here.

Thanks fellas. Yeah I'm jealous of all the great get together and events you have in Europe. Getting folks together here is very difficult, partially due to distances involved. Hope to see Milltracks someday! It would be great fun to meet European tank guys (and gals).

Thanks Robert - yes the whole front end is different, including different tires, aluminum beam axle, steering knuckle, and different printed springs. I'm happy with it now, it's quite fun model. You should finish yours, I know you were disappointed by it being a bit undersize, but it's nice model overall (after mods). If you want the front end files I can give them to you. If I made it again I might print the parts at 110%.
Cheers,
-Bob
