3D Printed BMW R75

Post by RC_BobM »

Hi MiniPansar
I try and will post my first project here as a test. Its a 1/6 3D printed BMW R75 from MINIALAND57 available on Cults3d.

Printing in PLA + material. A friend and fellow builder in Oz made the rubber tires for me.

Its not 100% accurate but should be fun to see in RC. I had to modify a couple of the parts- the bearing hole in the wheels was too large for the bearing specified. If you want the STL files for this let me know.

Enjoy, all for now - Bob

Very nice looking! :D
The tires are fantastic and I like the idea with the spokes.

Thanks I was very pleased with how the rubber tires came out. Even printing them in PLA and painting looked pretty good. The spokes are pretty clever - can't take credit for the design. I did have to redo the bearing hole and I made the spokes a little thicker. Thanks for looking.

How cool is this!! 😍
I use PLA+ in 99.9% of all my printing and it works great. I got a whole 1/6 tank in PLA+ and it works OK in Swedish climate. 😉

Martin - Yes this is all PLA + except for tires and detail resin bits (ABS), so far it seems to be an excellent material. I've run the bike now and its fun to drive. It needs some figures and other details. Erik yes building this has been fun, how cool it would be to have a real 1:1 of these. Thanks for following along.

Hi Bob, great build!
Some weeks ago I bought the files too.
I am very interested in the updated parts, so if you want to share them, please?

Aboput the tyres, it seems to me that they are made in a mold, right? not printed with TPU.

I found the motor on ebay. I used the Comodrill motor specified in PDF, but they are from UK, so a bit hard to find. If you absolutely cannot find one I think I buy several spares. The tires someone made for me in rubber, with a multipiece mold using my CAD file. But I print some in PLA and they work great as well.
Thanks all,
Bob
