Re: Late Production Tiger 1 Project
Thanks guys One last thing on the Tiger I.... Ever since I started this Tiger project, I have been on a quest for runnable, mid/late style track links to complete the Normandy, Tiger look. With the recent photos of Metalbox's mid Tiger 1, I was excited to see the track links were what I have been se...

Re: Sturmgeschütz III Ausf G Project
Hi Morgan I have been wanting one for a long time too. It's nice to do an assault gun for a change(as much as I like turrets!) Road wheel and return roller. Much happier with the wheels center and hub cap. Also reduced the size of the rim welds. I didn't have the patience to add the welds to the pos...

Re: Opel Blitz Project
Hi guys Thanks for the nice comments. Decided to do something small. I haven't had the energy to fabricate the handle yet but it will be added. Unlike the larger jacks, these had a rather simple crank and handle. http://i203.photobucket.com/albums/aa188/kimikobo/Opel%20Blitz%20Project/3TJACK24.jpg h...

Re: Opel Blitz Project
Hi Falcon That is correct. They are SLA( stereolythography) parts, not printed. Two different processes to produce 3D parts. More progress on the drive train assembly. Fabricated the two internal axles and the main drive shaft and was able to fit everything. I'm keeping all the home-made parts in pr...

Re: Sturmgeschütz III Ausf G Project
Some very small detail parts but this will allow me to work on the road wheels. Road Wheel Hub Caps http://i203.photobucket.com/albums/aa188/kimikobo/Stug%20III%20Project/STUGIIIHUBCAPS_2.jpg http://i203.photobucket.com/albums/aa188/kimikobo/Stug%20III%20Project/STUGIIIHUBCAPS_3.jpg http://i203.phot...

Re: Opel Blitz Project
Hi Bjorn.....you will be glad to know that with the parts below, your splash guard was also included. Here is one of the axle assemblies. Everything seems to fit and function well. yeah! Some serious layers of primer and adding the fasteners and it will be ready to bolt onto the vehicle. http://i203...

Re: Sturmgeschütz III Ausf G Project
Hi guys Worked on the hub cap and wheel center parts and think I'll go ahead and get these mad as opposed to modifying the kits as in the above wheel photo. The 3T Jack assembly will go out as well and I'm excited to get that and the rear axle for the Blitz too. Should be some good forward progress ...

Re: Sturmgeschütz III Ausf G Project
Started drawing some parts in Solidworks for the swing arms but then got distracted by a wheel sitting on my desk. Decided to try adding some things to it. Here's how it looks now but a few more things to add. Hope to have a swing arm soon too. http://i203.photobucket.com/albums/aa188/kimikobo/Stug%...

Re: Opel Blitz Project
Hi everyone More work on the Opel Blitz's biggest hurdle before having it move under it's own power, the rear axle housing. I drew all the components so I could get the assembly with all parts fitting. hopefully no surprises when I have the rear and front halves made. some photos http://i203.photobu...

Re: Late Production Tiger 1 Project
Hi everyone All that remains are the front and rear unit markings. Otherwise, I am calling this one DONE! Some walk around photos in sunlight this time. http://i203.photobucket.com/albums/aa188/kimikobo/Tiger%20I%20Project/TIGERFINAL3.jpg http://i203.photobucket.com/albums/aa188/kimikobo/Tiger%20I%2...

Re: Sturmgeschütz III Ausf G Project
Hi Bjorn, thanks I removed the motors and am getting ready to paint the interior before reinstalling the motors and electronics with some minor modifications. Doing this while I inspect areas that will be detailed and/or modified. Thought I would take some more photos as I go for anyone who might be...

Re: Late Production Tiger 1 Project
Thanks Bjorn Continued the minor chips and also attempted the first layer of exhaust soot. More to go but taking it slow. As these Tigers were newly supplied just prior to Normandy, I'll keep the "worn paint" look to a minimum on the heat shields exterior. On many of the war-time photos, camouflage ...

Re: Late Production Tiger 1 Project
Thanks for the support Bjorn The hard part is over, now its time for the fun, final weathering over the whole tank. The white outlines on the numbers were a nightmare with that heavy zimmerit on the turret. From the few war-time photos I have of this Tiger, they were rough painted by hand anyway. Ke...

Re: Late Production Tiger 1 Project
Hi Chris, Thanks. This summer I hope to spend a full day and take some proper outdoor photos and videos of the models. Did the next step, the dreaded tactical numbers. White border, and crosses as well as divisional marking will be next. Then some camo touch up and the last of the weathering. http:/...

Re: Sturmgeschütz III Ausf G Project
Hi Bjorn I have to agree. So far, the Metalbox Stug and Opel Blitz have been the best "out of the box" models I have gotten. The crusher is actually from OneSixth Unique and they are hand made. They are very well made and he offers both Wehrmacht and SS and also some other types of field caps. The o...
